Documentary credit

The documentary credit is one of the most secure payment methods in international trade used to reduce import and export related risks. Documentary credit requires the presentation of documents, which must comply with its terms and conditions, prior to initiate the payment. It can be issued in a variety of forms and could be payable on sight basis or at maturity. This instrument is subject to Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP), ICC Publication No. 600.

Documentary credit for importers

Using a documentary credit when you import goods or services offers you a delivery security against presentation of conform documents from your counterparty.
